Looking after the children´s needs is a full-time job. The residents are grouped into several houses that are each managed by a head of house who acts as a parent for a household of up to 30 children, ensuring that all their needs are provided for (food, medicine, clothes, toiletries, etc.) and that they perform their chores and responsibilities.

      The head of house is a volunteer who occupies a room in the residential house assigned to him. Some stay with the kids 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These full-time volunteers include two former executives in international banks, and successful young professionals who have chosen to spend their time caring for former street children.

      Taking on multiple roles -- disciplinarian, teacher, adviser, and friend -- the head of house ensures that the children follow their daily schedule, gives them pep talks, joins the children in their prayers and meals, instills in them a sense of responsibility, promotes camaraderie and teamwork, applauds and awards exemplary behavior, imposes sanctions on offenses, listens to their problems and concerns, and encourages them to dream and hope for the future.

      There are also full-time volunteers who work in the offices and help manage the Foundation´s affairs as well as augment the teaching force, most of whom enjoyed successful careers for many years but are now opting to devote their skills, talents, and abilities for the benefit of marginalized youth.
